Open Studio – Individual painting session
- Your painting session in the Studio – For two hours, use the space and all the available materials for watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media

Open studio: Your own individual painting Session • 2 hours I Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays I Watercolor or Acrylics/Mixed Media
Would you like to try your hand at painting, but don’t have the right supplies? Or maybe you don’t have enough space at home? Or perhaps you just feel like painting in a different setting, or with a friend. Then the Open Studio is for you!
Simply book a time slot, come to the studio and use it for two hours. You can paint whatever you like. You can experiment and bring your own ideas to life. Paints, brushes, canvases, and much more are available for you to use.
Here is what’s waiting for you
- Experiment and let your creativity flow: During the open studio, you are free to create your own individual projects.. Take some time for yourself, get to know the materials, experiment, and create your own artwork. There will not be step-by-step instructions like at the Creative Evenings for example, but if you have any questions or need a tip, I’m of course here to help.
- Media and Materials: You can work with watercolors or acrylics and mixed-media materials (other media such as gouache and gel plate printing are in the works). A wide selection of high-quality paints, brushes, and other supplies is available to you.
- Painting Substrate: The base price includes three sheets of good-quality paper. In addition, you can choose canvases in various sizes and very high-quality watercolor paper in professional artist grade at cost. I am happy to advise you on the options in person.
- Possible dates: There are time slots available on Tuesday evenings, Fridays, and Saturdays. You can choose the date that works best for you during the booking.
- By yourself or with a friend: The painting room is designed for a maximum of two people – for a quiet, relaxing experience. You can come alone or book together either a friend or family member.
- Refreshments: Water, tea, and coffee are available for you. Whenever you’d like, you can take a short break on the terrace to enjoy some tea or coffee or just to clear your head.
- Painting clothes: Acrylic paint will not come off clothing when washed. To protect your clothes, painting aprons and shirts are available in the studio. If you’d prefer to wear your own painting clothes, please bring them with you. You can change in the restroom.
Prices
When registering, you will pay a deposit of CHF 10 per person. This will be applied toward the total price. You will pay the remainder when coming to the studio, depending on what medium and extra materials you have used. That means if you use the open studio for watercolor painting, you’ll pay CHF 19 on site, and for acrylic or mixed media, CHF 39 on site – plus any additional supplies you’ve used, such as canvases.
Prices per painting session and per person (including all services listed above)::
- Watercolor: 29 CHF
- Acrylics/Mixed Media: 49 CHF
- additionally, depending on usage: Costs for any additional painting substrates based on individual usage (additional or higher-quality watercolor paper, canvases). Sample prices: Stretched canvas, size 20x20x2 cm: 4 CHF; size 40x40x2 cm: 8 CHF; size 60x80x2 cm: 17 CHF; size 80x80x2 cm: 22 CHF. High-quality Magnani 1401 watercolor paper – 30×30 cm: 2 CHF per sheet)

How to get there:
- by public transport: Take tram No. 11 to the Mühlhauserstrasse stop, or BVB bus line 30 to the Johanniterbrücke stop (approx. 450 m walk)
- by car: Parking is available in the St. Johanns neighborhood in the Blue Zone (with a parking disc, you may park for 1 hour during the day from Mon–Sat, 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. From 7:00 PM to 8:00 AM and on Sundays, parking is usually free). Nearest parking garage: Parkhaus City at the University Hospital (approx. 800 m walk)
- by bicycle: Bike parking is located diagonally across the street from the studio at the entrance to St. Johanns Park

Enrollment/Booking
Registering for the open studio is possible here in the online shop, in person at the studio-shop at Elsässerstrasse 25, or by contacting me directly. Registration is binding and will be processed in the order in which applications are received.
Registration can be done up to 24 hours before the respective appointment (date and time).
Payment for the Open Studio
When registering you will pay a deposit of CHF 10 per person. This will be applied toward the total price.
You’ll pay the remaining amount on-site at the studio, depending on the medium you used (watercolor or acrylic/mixed media) and any additional materials you used (e.g., canvas, premium-quality watercolor paper).
- Possible payment methods when booking here in the online store are TWINT or credit card
- When registering at the studio-shop, you can pay in cash, with TWINT, debit card, or credit card.
- You can pay the remaining balance at the studio-shop in person with cash, TWINT, debit card, or credit card.
Cancellation policy
The CHF 10 deposit will be retained in the event of cancellation or no-show and is non-refundable.
If you need to cancel, you can transfer your spot to a substitute. In that case, please let me know the substitute’s name in advance.
